I think I should take my blog email address off of my profile at big sites...
Abbreviated Threats #12
- Chuck Norris did a commercial for Chris W. Cox's NRA that will air in 10 states where Chuck is afraid there's some threat to gun ownership. DC v. Heller tends to make him look stupid. I'm not even afraid to say that, because I'm a gun owning Democrat. Guns are about the last thing Democrats are after these days.
- John McCain is breaking records for number of campaign strategies he can embrace and discard in one day (Steve Benen calls it piňata politics). This morning, on CBS news, he urged Americans to vote for gridlock. Americans don't actually like gridlock. Nobody told Johnny. He says he'll win next Tuesday. I wonder what he knows that we don't.
- Darcy Burner, darling of the Webocrats, is the target of a new smear campaign by Dave Reichert that accuses her of padding her resumė. She worked for Microsoft. Reichert wants the world to believe she pulled the wool over Bill Gates' eyes? Fail.
- Sarah Palin can always fall back on acting after the election. She has talked about how she and Todd are just normal folks. Making movies could bring in a lot of cash for her. (I know I should have written this joke weeks ago, but batter late than never).
- Ted Stevens guilty on all counts. I just don't get tired of writing that. That feels good. Ted Stevens guilty on all counts. Awesome. One ignorant politician down, hundreds more still to go. The Internet is a series of tubes all right. Now flushing his memory straight down those tubes. Buh-bye, asshole.
- Air Force Brig. Gen. Thomas Hartmann is being investigated for abuse of power by influencing the "trials" at Guantanamo. The trials are a farce. If Hartmann is blamed, then he's a new scapegoat. He didn't do anything Dick Cheney didn't want done. The White House wanted showy trials.
- An article at The Guardian took a look at the attack inside Syria two days ago and thought the Bush Administration may have acted because they will get a freebie before the power changes hands to a new president. That's not at all what I thought. I assumed Bush was trying to provoke an international incident in an attempt to win votes for John McCain. The Danger Room says it was a precision raid to kill Abu Ghadiya. All three of these things could be true.
